Much of my childhood was spent admiring interiors, patterns and textiles, and dreaming of ways I could work with these passions in a more concrete way. Needless to say, my deep-rooted interest in design and textiles only became stronger over the years. It was something my mom and I had in common; we bonded over a mutual love for thoughtfully designed objects and weekends were spent perusing our favorite shops in our northern California town. My mother has since passed away, and after the birth of my son Johan, I felt inspired to create something of my own--something tangible that could bridge past and future generations. After much researching, planning and brainstorming, in the fall of 2018, Frida Faxen was born.
Our mission is simple: to create beautiful, timeless textiles for people to cherish, love and pass on to their children, grandchildren and so on. We partner with indigenous artisans from Central and South America who’ve spent years honing their century-old crafts in hopes of preserving their native weaving traditions and sharing their stories with the world. We believe in supporting women and underrepresented communities, promoting fair trade practices, and sustainable, slow design. We are honored and humbled to work with so many amazing artisans and hope you enjoy your textiles as much as we’ve enjoyed producing them.
With love & gratitude,
Bonnie Faxen, Founder
